As soon as battles affect the universe outside the battlefield it will be an MMO. The initial stage of this will probably be Dust battles impacting occupancy in Faction Warfare systems, but there's a lot more to come after that.

Hope all works out well for you guys in RL. Also, lets hope STB keep things together while you're occupied elsewhere: when corps falter due to RL problems for leadership, no-one really benefits.
